The calculator instantly shows your take-home pay per paycheck, monthly, and annually — with a full breakdown of every deduction.
Why State Matters for Your Paycheck
Federal income tax rates and FICA are the same everywhere in the US. But state income tax varies enormously — from 0% in the nine no-tax states to 13.3% at the top bracket in California. On a $75,000 salary, a Texas worker and a California worker pay exactly the same federal taxes, but the California worker pays roughly $5,900 more in state income tax every year.
Even within states that have income tax, the difference between a flat-rate state like Pennsylvania (3.07%) and a progressive state like Minnesota (up to 9.85%) is significant. The state comparison tab on every calculator page makes this easy to see at a glance.
2026 Tax Rate Updates
All calculators on this site use 2026 tax rates. The IRS adjusts federal income tax brackets annually for inflation — the 2026 brackets reflect an estimated 2.5-3% inflation adjustment from 2025. Several states also updated their rates for 2026: Iowa completed its transition to a flat rate, Georgia continued its phased reduction, and North Carolina lowered its flat rate as part of ongoing tax reform. Check your state’s calculator for the current rates applied.
